Crisco Chocolate Chip Cookies NEW
by: Heather

I used to watch my Mother bake everything with Crisco and could never figure out how she could turn that basic bucket of lard into such magic.

And I still don't understand it, but I've tried every other kind of shortening, and nothing makes chocolate chip cookies as melt-in-your good as Crisco. These are sure to please even the most discriminating chocolate chip cookie lover.

Add the nut choice of your preference, leave them out...or substitute with oatmeal for delicious chocolate chip oatmeal cookies.

2 cups Crisco
2 cups white sugar
1 cup brown sugar
4 eggs
4 teaspoons vanilla
2 teaspoons salt
2 teaspoons baking soda
4 1/2 cups flour
1-12 ounce package chocolate chips
1/2 cup chopped nuts

In a large bowl, cream the Crisco, both sugars, eggs and vanilla. Mix in the dry ingredients, adding the nuts last. Drop onto ungreased cookie sheet and bake at 350 degrees F. for 10 to 12 minutes. Yields approximately 6 dozen cookies.

Tip: I always cover my cookie sheets with a sheet of aluminum foil. Makes clean up a breeze, and the foil can be wiped down with a paper towel before adding the next batch if there are any charred bits - but do I ever burn cookies???? NOOOOO!!! LOL
