How to Cook Pork Recipes Your Family Loves

Two sweet and sour pork recipes and several recipes for country style ribs will show you how to cook pork ribs your whole family will enjoy. Some recipes use barbecue sauce.

Broiled Pineapple Pork Chops

4 large pork loin chops
1 can pineapple (4 slices)
soy sauce
cinnamon

Preheat the broiler. Trim excess fat from the pork chops and place in large shallow pan. Pour soy sauce over both sides of pork chops and let stand for about 20 minutes.

Place the pan under the broiler for 5 minutes on each side or until brown. Reduce the heat to 350 deg. F.and remove the pork chops from the broiler.

Place the pineapple slices around the pork and pour the juice over all. Cook for 20 minutes, turn chops and pineapple and then continue cooking for an additional 20 minutes. Remove from the oven and before serving sprinkle lightly with cinnamon.

Sweet and Sour Pork

3 1/2 pounds cut up pork or riblets
salt
2 eggs
2/3 cup flour
2 tablespoons soya sauce
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup vinegar
1 cup water
1/2 bottle ketchup
corn starch

Sprinkle salt over the pork. Beat the eggs, flour and soya sauce. Coat meat with batter and deep fry until deep brown. In a sauce pan bring the brown sugar, vinegar, water, and ketchup to a boil. Thicken with corn starch. Add fried meat and simmer until meat is tender.
This pork recipe serves 4 to 5.

Glazed Spareribs

4 pounds spare ribs (cut up)
1 can condensed beef broth
1 1/2 cups prepared mincemeat
3 tablespoons vinegar
1 tablespoon cornstarch

Arrange the spareribs in a shallow roasting pan. Bake at 350 degrees F. uncovered for 1 hour, or until almost done. Pour off the fat. Combine the beef broth, mincemeat, vinegar, and cornstarch and pour over the ribs. Bake for another hour, or until done. Stir lightly occasionally. Serve with plain or fried rice.
This pork recipe serves 6.

Country Style Ribs

4 pounds of pork ribs (beef can be used)
1 cup water
1 cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons flour
1 teaspoon sage
1 tablespoon vinegar
3-4 crisp, tart apples
1/2 cup of raisins (if desired)

Place the ribs in a casserole dish and bake in the oven for 25 minutes at 350 degrees F. Remove from oven and drain the fat. In a bowl mix the water, brown sugar, flour, sage, and vinegar. Pour this mixture over the ribs. Peel, core, and slice the apple and place the slices over the ribs. Add raisins. Bake in the oven at 350 degrees F. for another 35 minutes or until the ribs are done.
This pork recipe will serve 5 to 6.

Pork Ribs with Barbecue Sauce

12 pork spare ribs
3 ounces butter
seasoning
3 onions (sliced)
1 clove garlic (crushed)
6 ounces mushrooms (sliced)
1 can (15 ounce) tomatoes
1 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 1/2 teaspoon mustard
3/4 teaspoon mixed herbs
3/4 teaspoon sugar

Melt butter in small saucepan. Brush the ribs with 1/2 the melted butter and place in skillet. Season well. Fry for 15 to 20 minutes turning once or twice. After 10 minutes lower heat. Add the onions, garlic, and mushrooms to the remaining melted butter and fry until the onion is tender. Add the tomatoes, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, herbs, sugar and seasoning. Simmer for 10 to 15 minutes. Pour over pork ribs and serve.
This pork recipe serves 6.

Sweet and Sour Pork

1 pound pork fillet
1 1/2 tablespoons flour
seasoning
6 tablespoons cooking oil
1 clove garlic (crushed)
2 tart apples (cored and sliced)
1 can (10 ounce) pineapple pieces (sliced)
1 green pepper
1 red pepper
1 level tablespoon cornflour
2 teaspoons soy sauce
3 tablespoons vinegar
2 tablespoons sugar
1/2 cup chicken stock
1/2 cup pineapple juice

Cut the pork into 1 inch cubes. Coat with flour and seasoning. Heat the oil in a skillet, add the garlic and pork and fry until lightly browned on all sides. Reduce the heat and add the apple, pineapple, green and red peppers. Simmer for another 10 minutes or until tender. In a saucepan mix the cornflour, soy sauce, vinegar, sugar, chicken stock, and pineapple juice. Bring to a boil for 2-3 minutes until sauce is clear, stirring continuously. Pour over meat. Serve with rice.
This pork recipe serves 4-6.
