Frosted Pumpkin Cookies

Ingredients and Instructions:
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup margarine
2 eggs
1 1/2 cups cooked pumpkin
3 cups flour
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 cup nuts
1 cup chopped dates
Cream sugars, margarine and eggs; add pumpkin, flour, salt, soda, spices, baking powder, nuts, and dates. Make into cookies.
Bake on greased baking sheet at 350 degrees until done. Yield: 5 dozen. While cooling, make
Frosting
1 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup milk
1/4 cup vegetable shortening
1 teaspoon milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
Powdered sugar
Boil the three ingredients for 1 minute. Add the teaspoon milk and teaspoon vanilla. Cool to lukewarm. Add enough powdered sugar to make a spreading consistency. Spread on cookies.
