Classic Chicken Cordon Bleu RecipeThe classic chicken cordon bleu recipe is made by flattening a chicken breast and layering slices of ham and Swiss cheese on top. It is then rolled up and baked in the oven. This recipe for chicken cordon bleu can be made in a regular oven and if you're in a hurry, can also be cooked in the microwave.
Ingredients for chicken cordon bleu:
1 cup finely crushed bread crumbs Chicken cordon bleu done in a conventional oven. In a pie plate mix bread crumbs, parsley flakes, Parmesan cheese, and garlic powder. Pound or flatten chicken breasts to a 1/4 inch thickness. On each chicken breast layer 1 piece of ham and one piece of cheese. Roll up each chicken breast and secure with toopicks making sure to close the ends to prevent cheese loss during cooking. Roll the chicken breasts in melted butter and then in the bread crumb mixture. Place on cooking sheet or pan. Bake in a 375 deg. oven for 35 - 40 minutes. Chicken is done when you can't see any more pink. To make this chicken cordon bleu in the microwave follow the above directions but instead place the chicken breasts in a glass 9x13 inch baking dish and mircrowave on high for 8 to 10 minutes.
