Who is Gramma Cookie's Kitchen?

Welcome to Gramma Cookie's Kitchen! My name is Ken Bryski, webmaster and owner along with my wife, Cheryl. We live just a little south of Nanaimo in British Columbia, Canada. Our website was started and has been online since December 19, 2000.

Gramma Cookie's Kitchen is a tribute to Cheryl's mother, Pauline (Polly) Cooke, who passed away on January 28th, 1993.

When Gramma Cookie passed on Cheryl inherited all of her old cookbooks and recipes which were kept in an old tin box. Many of our meals were started with a quick rummage through the tin box looking for a favorite recipe.

Some of the papers that the recipes were written on were beginning to crumble and fade with age. Since we didn't want to lose these treasures we decided that we should preserve them somehow, before they were gone forever.

That's how we came up with the idea for this website. After discussing it with our family, we put together a collection of family favorites in an easy to use website.

We originally started with Gramma Cookie's recipes but over the years our collection has grown. We've had hundreds of recipes sent to us by visitors to the website. We've collected dozens of recipe books from garage sales and flea markets.

Another thing we find quite often are recipe boxes filled with old family recipes.

So watch this collection grow, but please remember it's just a collection. We can't and haven't tried all the recipes. If you find a problem with one of the recipes please let us know about it.
